It Begins...

Looking back at my divorce experience, I had it pretty easy compared to how some of my friends’ divorces went. But nonetheless, I definitely had a lot of moments of frustration, and at the time, I would get so mad! Wow, I was a tough person to be around because I would take all of that anger and frustration from my ex and either harbor those feelings OR worse, send them back out undeservingly to friends, family (my girls) or co-workers. Unfortunately, my girls got most of it.

Now that time has passed and I have taken a lot of time to look back and reflect at those peak moments of frustration, some of them are actually pretty funny. I started to share those stories with friends and of course, they had their own stories to share. And that’s when the idea Ex-Husbandisms was born! The first thing that most people think about with divorce is how awful, expensive and painful it can be. But- here’s the silver lining- those comical moments, where if you weren’t actually in the “scene” at the time, you would be laughing your ass off. Here’s an example- it was a Saturday and on this very rare occasion, I had the flu. I had my girls that weekend and I had called my soon to be ex to ask (beg) if he could please take the kids for a couple of days so I could recuperate. I spoke with him around noon and he said he would get the girls after his work meeting. I asked him- it’s Saturday- you have a meeting?? He replied yes and he would be over to my house in a few hours. Very well then. I decided to spend some time on my lounge chair on my front porch to warm up since I had a fever (this happened in Florida during the summer) and to get some fresh air. My ex pulls up to the front of my house wearing camo gear. I asked him- I thought you were at a meeting? He said, yes, I was, I was at paintball with some guys from work. What?!?!?!?!? Yup- at the time, as you can imagine, I wasn’t laughing so hard, but NOW, looking back and remembering him walking up in the camo gear- it’s funny! In fact, a meme is coming soon to tell that story on Instagram & FB.

Here we are, in the beginning of this project, and I’m very excited to create a community and platform where women can share stories like “Camo Ex” and laugh collectively. A lot happens when we laugh- it lowers blood pressure, releases stress, triggers the release of endorphins (happy brain chemicals), and several other benefits. I welcome your stories and look forward to sharing more of mine. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
